Watching Daniel Bloom

To begin with, I should introduce myself and explain why I’m here. I’m a marketing professional living and working in Toronto… I’m a daughter, a sister, a wife, and most importantly, I’m a mother. My son Daniel and his sister Charlotte are the lights of my life and nothing, but nothing is more important to me (well, I suppose my darling husband should be included in that mix as well).  And that leads me to why I’m starting this blog…

Recently, we’ve been given reason to worry about Daniel’s health – and that led me here. I figured that writing might help me work through some of the stress and emotional upheaval I’m experiencing as we wade through the system, waiting for a diagnosis and hoping for improvement. I also think that documenting his progress will be helpful for us to ensure he gets the best /most appropriate treatment – and it will also help to remind me that we are taking steps (even if they are only baby ones) forward every day.

Finally, I’m writing this because I have turned to the internet so many times for reassurance and answers – and every once in a while, I find a post from someone that helps me get through the day, gives me hope, or helps me to understand a little more about what’s going on. Maybe this blog will also do the same for someone else.

One last thing – just an explanation of the name of the blog – Watching Daniel Bloom…I know that if everything turns out just the way that I’ m hoping and praying for, then one day, a few years from now, I’ll be able to look back and say that Daniel was a classic “late bloomer”.  But regardless of whether or not that happens, I will enjoy every moment of him growing, and blossoming into the amazing little person that he is destined to be. So bloom my baby boy, bloom – in your own time, and in your own way – and I’ll be there to help bring you the sun and the rain. xoxo
