Watching Daniel Bloom

Hurry up and wait – again

Posted on: January 6, 2011

Today, after 2 1/2 long months of waiting, we finally got to see the ENT surgeon to look at Daniel’s tonsils and assess him for sleep apnea. I was so hopeful that this would be the beginning of some answers, so I was extremely disappointed (to say the least) when the doctor literally asked me a series of questions (all of which I’ve answered over and over again), and then spent all of 10 seconds looking down his throat, only to tell me that yes, Daniel’s tonsils are enlarged (3.5+ on the scale they use, which apparently means he has ~75% blockage), and that yes, he very likely has sleep apnea, and yes, he very likely will need surgery, but no – we’re not going to do anything about it yet. In fact, we’re going to get on ANOTHER waiting list, this time for the sleep clinic, just to be sure that he really does have sleep apnea.

Seriously, another waiting list?
